Your Fish & Chips Sign

Established 1960

Your Fish and Chips is truly a family affair.

In the same location since the 1920s (when it was owned by the Hammersley family) the business has been run by the Snetselaars for many years, since it was purchased in the 1960s by Dutch-born Ryk and Johanna Snetselaar, at which time the name was changed to Your Fish & Chips. Ryk and Johanna brought to the table a combination of hard work and passion, not to mention the kind of fresh, delicious food people expect from a family-run business.

After running the business for decades, Ryk and Johanna passed it on to their son Bill and his wife Elizabeth Snetselaar. They owned it until 2004, when the next generation took over, placing Bill’s son Ryk (named after his grandfather) at the helm. Ryk and his family still proudly carry on the family tradition today.

Over the years, our business has flourished thanks to the unfailing dedication and willingness of several generations of our family to roll up their sleeves and pitch in to serve the community our delicious, crispy fish and chips made from locally grown potatoes. That, and the loyal support of our wonderful customer base has enabled us to be a part of the downtown St. Thomas landscape and the St. Thomas community at large for so long, and we couldn’t be more honoured. Above all else, we value family, great food, and creating traditions, and Your Fish & Chips has allowed us to focus on all of those things for many years, and we hope to continue to do so for many years to come as future generations come on board.

We consider every customer who walks through the door to be a member of the Snetselaar family, and we value every one of you. Whether you decide to dine in or take out, we welcome you to our table and hope to see you again and again.
